The Entrepreneurial Life: Peaks And Valleys

Posted On: Wednesday, February 1, 2017

I have had an exceptionally unusual life and my entrepreneurial endeavors started early in life. Like many, I have had national recognition, public accolades, soaring success, yet major stumbles when both my husband’s brain cancer, internal fraud and breast cancer set me back.

My former company is now doing over $40M in sales under new management.

I was educated in the UK with degrees in Psychology and Education before coming to the US in 1973. Since then, I have enjoyed a career spanning some nearly 40 years including as an assistant professor at Cornell University, Harvard Medical School trained clinical psychologist,  management consultant to Fortune 100  corporations, serial entrepreneur including founding AllergyBuyersClub.com an Internet 500 company, workshop leader and inspirational speaker.

Highlights of my career include: In 2004 I received the Advanta Award for best small woman led business of the year. In 2006 my company was named one of the top 20 best places to work in Boston by the Boston Business Journal where I frequently appeared in the lists of the top women entrepreneurial companies in Massachusetts. In 2015 I sold my company in order to concentrate on recovering my health following breast cancer.

I seek to inspire others to lead happier, healthy and more productive lives, as I have done in some form or another, my entire life. I write and post original daily inspirational  quotes  and photos for my daily blog “OnlyOneLife.com” and can be seen on “FB/Only One Life: Don’t Waste It”, which has over 44K followers. This is also the title of my book which I wrote in 2014-15 chronicling my fight to survive breast cancer and life lessons learned from my journey.

Mercia was widowed in 2011 when her husband, Herman Lowe died of a brain tumor. She is a breast cancer survivor.  She lives with her two Siamese cats in Plymouth, MA.

Mercia is the Keynote Speaker and Workshop Leader at our Annual Conference, April 27, 5:30-9:30pm, and April 28. 9-3pm
