Concord Area Breakfast: Holistic Well-Being; How its Practices Affect Dreams and Goals

Tuesday, January 8, 2019
8:00 AM – 10:30 AM

Kathy Elkind, an alumna of the DreamFactory, walked over 2200 kilometers (around 1400 miles) from the North Sea to the Mediterranean on the GR5 (Grande Randonnee Cinq trail) with her husband in 2018.  Come see her slides of inspiring scenery of the 4 countries she walked through: The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and France.  She will share how her dream and intention became a reality.

Kathy will share observations and lessons about food and behaviors from other cultures such as: “We ate 2 hour dinners with French walkers. Never once did I hear a person say “this is bad for me, or how many calories are in this?, or I’ll be good when I get home.” If they talked about the food it was to say how delicious it was or where a particular cheese or wine came from.” Learn how she used self-compassion to deal with the difficult times, such as muddy trails for miles, and the only open restaurant 2 kilometers in the next village. Most of all she will demonstrate how your goals and intentions of health and fitness for 2019 can be guided by love, kindness and acceptance instead of push, shove, and force.

Kathy is an Eating Psychology Coach and a teacher of Mindful Self-Compassion. As an Eating Psychology coach she works with individuals who struggle with overeating, emotional eating and body image issues. She runs her business, Elkind Nourishment, in Vermont.
