Beauty, function, and the greater good have been traveling companions for centuries along the Ancient Silk Road, connecting Asia to Europe and beyond, through trade and exchange of traditions. I am Punita Arora, and I take inspiration from those by-gone travelers in my approach to my business, Poppies and Persimmons. Time-honored designs, tastes, and techniques thrive in the making of these humble and beautiful creations, inspired by cultures along the Ancient Silk Road. Exotic motifs and colors are even more beautiful when artisan communities thrive with support, education, and a growing demand for their crafts.
  • Poppies and Persimmons seeks to delight mind and body with chai-spiced butter crunch, made with organic ingredients. Colorful hand-woven scarves and grass and cotton tote bags that are sustainably produced, add a higher level of beauty, for they serve a function and the greater good.

The Ancient Silk Road’s highways and byways of travel, trade, and tradition are more than artistic inspiration, a muse of sorts. Traders and merchants in ancient times brought home the world beyond the horizon to their customers. My products evoke a sense of that desire and wonder in every-day items that are respectfully and beautifully made to delight!
